Our client enrolled with CLG in October 2023 with an outstanding Citibank credit card debt. She and her family fell into debt during Covid due to loss of employment and medical bills, with her family in hardship due to her asthma and her kids suffering from vision issues. CLG enrolled the client and sent a dispute letter to the creditor, however, Citibank stated that the debt is valid, and that the client is required to pay.
After speaking to the client, our attorneys discerned that the creditor is violating federal consumer laws, and we educated the client on their rights under Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), informing them that no creditor has the right to harass them. Our client then sent in evidence gathered as per guidance from our attorneys and we prepared a claim against Citibank for violating TCPA.
Citibank in response to our claim agreed to settle the debt immediately at 50% of the total outstanding amount payable in installments of 24 months. Our attorneys negotiated and brought the settlement amount to 35% of the outstanding debt payable over the course of 36 months.
