Why would I enroll with an out-of-state attorney?
A debt settlement company will take your monthly payment towards settlement while “settling” at the “lowest” possible percentage. On the other hand, with a debt resolution company, the monthly retainer will go toward legal fees and we will work on invalidating the debt to the point where you owe nothing on the debts. In addition, if you get sued, we will represent you in court.
Do you do debt consolidation?
No, we do not do debt consolidation. We do debt validation. The main difference between us and debt consolidation is that your monthly payments to us do not go towards a settlement. We explore all avenues to invalidate your debt prior to any settlement negotiations.
Why should I enroll with Consumer Legal Group and not with a debt settlement company?
A debt settlement company looks to take your money while “settling” at the “lowest” possible percentage, however, they make money off of what percentage they settle at. This is more beneficial for them than it is for you. We look to invalidate the debt to the point where you owe nothing on the debts.
How do you invalidate my debt?
We invalidate your debts by asking the original creditor and or third-party collection agencies for the necessary information that they need to supply in order to collect on the debt. We will also check to see if the creditors comply with federal laws, and look at various different violations of federal laws. For each violation, they have to pay a fine.
How long does the debt validation process take?
The process can take 18-24 months, and can be a comprehensive process that does not necessarily come with immediate updates.
What do you promise clients when they enroll?
The promises of a Consumer Legal Group enrollment are that our legal services will curate the perfect plan for your individual needs. Whether that be invalidation, counter suits, legal representation on your behalf, or a settlement.
When do you apply certain federal laws to certain debts?
The FDCPA only applies to debts that are still with Original Creditors, but we have an extensive list of federal laws such as the TCPA, EFTA, and others that apply to the Original Creditor (change to Debt Collectors) to help attack the debts.
What happens if I get sued?
We will represent you in court or appoint Local Counsel on your behalf if necessary. If we feel the best option is settlement, we will do that as well to dismiss the court appearance.
Do I stop making my monthly payments to my creditors?
We encourage you to make the decision on your payments on your own.
Will this affect my credit score?
Your credit score will fluctuate while enrolled in our program, however, at the end of the program, your credit score should be restored back to the way it was or better.
What do my monthly payments go towards?
Your monthly payments go towards legal representation, a legal plan being created for your situation, communication from original creditors and third-party collectors to be ceased, and legal representation no matter the number of lawsuits you may receive.
